Joshua Kucharski is a rising ninth-grade student at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, MD and entering the The Juilliard School Pre-College Division in NYC in the fall of 2018. He began playing trumpet in 2015 and studies with his father, David Kucharski. Joshua is currently Principal Trumpet in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras program at Strathmore (MCYO Symphony), having recently completed a summer tour of Italy with the Symphony, and Assistant Principal Trumpet of The Peabody Youth Orchestra at Johns Hopkins University. Joshua has received superior ratings from 2015-2018 at Maryland State Solo and Ensemble and performed with the Maryland All-State Junior Band in 2016 and 2017. Additionally, Joshua won first prize in the Concert Artists International Competition in 2017, with an opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall. This winner’s concert culminated in Joshua receiving an additional prize for outstanding live performance among his peers.
In his free time, Joshua also loves reading adventure novels, composing music, playing tennis, and riding bikes with his Dad.
