Who Can apply?
Bands/ Wind Ensembles and Orchestras in the following five categories*:
- Middle School
- High School
- Youth Ensemble
- Community Ensemble
- University/College/Conservatory Ensemble
What will you need to apply?
All of our applications and fees are processed through https://app.getacceptd.com/ictus . You can use this link or click the red "application/full guidelines" button above.
Please note that you can start your application and save your work if your video is not yet ready to upload.
Here is a list of the materials you will need to apply.
1.) Basic contact information
2.) (for high schools and middle school only) Information on the number of students enrolled at your school and the number of musical ensembles offered. (not applicable to college/university, youth ensembles or community ensembles)
3.) Video recording no longer than 25 minutes in length. This can be one continuous video, or up to 4 separate videos. This must be recorded within the past year. May 2016 to July 2017. Repertoire selection is open.
4.) Biography of ensemble
5.) Picture of director (optional)
6.) Photo of ensemble (optional)
7.) 2 originals or copies (with written permission from publisher) of the score for judging purposes
8.) $450 application fee due at submission (no other fees or travel costs). *If your school has limited resources please contact us via e-mail.
How Does Judging Work?
Tapes submitted by the deadline of July 10th, 2017 are forwarded to judges in each category from which finalists are selected and written feedback is provided. Finalist in each category are then selected and notified by the end of July. Those tapes selected for the finals are then re-judged to be placed in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention in each category. Cash awards and interviews will be given to the 1st prize winner in each category.*
